This is one of my favorite time-saving breakfasts! No need to stand at the stove to cook one at a time! (I also really love to use my cookie cutters )
Sheet Pan Egg-in-a-Hole Recipe
Ingredients:
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
- Butter
- Equal amounts of:
- Slices of bread
- Eggs
Instructions:
- Preheat Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Prepare Baking Sheet:
- Lightly oil a baking sheet or coat it with nonstick spray.
- Cut Bread Holes:
- Use a biscuit cutter or cookie cutter to make a hole in the center of each slice of bread.
- Butter the Bread:
- Butter one side of each bread slice. Place the slices on the prepared baking sheet, buttered side down.
- First Bake:
- Bake the bread for 5 minutes to give it a head start in toasting.
- Make Egg Wells:
- Remove the baking sheet from the oven. Crack an egg into each hole in the bread slices.
- Season:
- Sprinkle salt and pepper to taste over the eggs.
- Second Bake:
- Return the baking sheet to the oven and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes, depending on how runny you want your egg yolk. Adjust the time accordingly.
- Optional Butter Top:
- Once done, remove from the oven and, if desired, spread a little butter on the top of each bread slice for added richness.
- Serve and Enjoy:
- Plate your sheet pan egg-in-a-hole and savor the delightful combination of crispy bread and perfectly baked eggs. You can serve it with your favorite toppings, such as fresh herbs, avocado, or hot sauce.
