Instructions:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, chopped onion, bell pepper, minced garlic, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix everything together thoroughly but avoid overmixing, which can make the meatloaf dense.
Form the meat mixture into a loaf shape. You can make one large loaf or smaller individual loaves, depending on your preference.
Heat a skillet or frying pan over medium heat and add a small amount of olive oil or coat it with cooking spray.
Carefully place the meatloaf into the skillet and cook it for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until nicely browned. Using a spatula, gently flip the meatloaf to cook both sides evenly.
Once browned, reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet with a lid, and continue cooking the meatloaf for an additional 15-20 minutes. This allows the inside of the meatloaf to cook through.
Use a meat thermometer to check that the internal temperature of the meatloaf reaches at least 160°F (71°C) to ensure it’s cooked thoroughly.
Once done, remove the meatloaf from the skillet and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing.
This stove top method gives you a nicely seared exterior and a juicy interior. You can always customize the recipe by adding different seasonings, vegetables, or toppings to suit your taste preferences. Enjoy your stove top meatloaf!
