Instructions:
- Prep the Ribs:
- Start by removing the membrane from the back of the ribs. This can be done by sliding a butter knife or your fingers under the membrane and then pulling it off. This step is important to ensure tender ribs.
- Rinse the ribs under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.
- Season the Ribs:
- Season both sides of the ribs generously with salt and pepper. If you’re using the dry rub, mix all the dry rub ingredients together in a bowl, then rub it evenly over the ribs.
- Wrap and Refrigerate:
- Wrap the seasoned ribs in plastic wrap or aluminum foil and place them in the refrigerator for at least 1-2 hours, or preferably overnight. This step allows the flavors to penetrate the meat.
- Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 275°F (135°C). This slow cooking process will help make the ribs tender.
- Bake the Ribs:
- Place the ribs on a baking sheet or in a roasting pan, bone-side down. Cover the pan tightly with aluminum foil.
- Bake the ribs in the preheated oven for 2.5 to 3 hours. The low and slow cooking will make the ribs tender and flavorful.
- Add Barbecue Sauce:
- After the initial baking time, remove the ribs from the oven. Carefully unwrap the foil, and brush a generous amount of your favorite barbecue sauce on both sides of the ribs.
- Finish in the Oven:
- Return the uncovered ribs to the oven and bake for an additional 20-30 minutes, or until the sauce is caramelized and the ribs have a beautiful glaze.
- Rest and Serve:
- Let the ribs rest for a few minutes before cutting them into individual pieces. This will help the juices redistribute, keeping the meat moist.
- Serve your fall-off-the-bone ribs with extra barbecue sauce and your favorite side dishes, such as coleslaw, baked beans, or cornbread.
Enjoy your delicious and tender fall-off-the-bone oven-baked ribs!
