Conchitas con Carne (Mexican Hamburger and Shells)

Instructions:

  1. Cook the pasta shells according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet or pan, cook the ground beef over medium heat until it’s browned and crumbled. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the cooked ground beef. Sauté for a few minutes until the onion is translucent and fragrant.
  4. Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, cumin, chili powder, oregano, salt, and pepper. Allow the mixture to simmer for about 5-10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken.
  5. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  6. In a large baking dish, combine the cooked pasta shells and the beef and tomato sauce mixture. Mix them together well.
  7. Sprinkle the shredded cheese on top of the mixture.
  8. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the dish is heated through.
  9. If desired, you can remove the foil during the last 5 minutes of baking to let the cheese get bubbly and slightly golden.
  10. Once done, garnish with chopped fresh cilantro and sliced jalapeños for some extra flavor and a touch of heat.
  11. Serve your Conchitas con Carne hot and enjoy your Mexican-style hamburger and pasta dish.

Feel free to adjust the seasoning and spice levels to your taste. This dish is often served with a side of refried beans, a simple salad, or warm tortillas.
