Instructions:
- Cook the pasta shells according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet or pan, cook the ground beef over medium heat until it’s browned and crumbled. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the cooked ground beef. Sauté for a few minutes until the onion is translucent and fragrant.
- Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, cumin, chili powder, oregano, salt, and pepper. Allow the mixture to simmer for about 5-10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large baking dish, combine the cooked pasta shells and the beef and tomato sauce mixture. Mix them together well.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheese on top of the mixture.
- Cover the baking dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the dish is heated through.
- If desired, you can remove the foil during the last 5 minutes of baking to let the cheese get bubbly and slightly golden.
- Once done, garnish with chopped fresh cilantro and sliced jalapeños for some extra flavor and a touch of heat.
- Serve your Conchitas con Carne hot and enjoy your Mexican-style hamburger and pasta dish.
Feel free to adjust the seasoning and spice levels to your taste. This dish is often served with a side of refried beans, a simple salad, or warm tortillas.
