Ingredients:
For the Filling:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 packet (about 1.25 ounces) taco seasoning mix
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional toppings: diced tomatoes, shredded lettuce, sour cream, salsa
For the Dough:
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into cubes
- 1 cup milk
Instructions:
Step 1: Prepare the Filling
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add diced onions and cook until translucent, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- Add ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned.
- Drain excess fat from the skillet.
- Stir in the taco seasoning mix and water. Simmer for 5-7 minutes until the liquid reduces and thickens.
- Season with salt and pepper according to taste.
- Remove the skillet from heat and let the beef mixture cool slightly.
- Stir in shredded cheddar cheese until it melts and combines with the beef mixture. Set aside.
