Sheet Pan Egg-in-a-Hole Recipe

This is one of my favorite time-saving breakfasts! No need to stand at the stove to cook one at a time! (I also really love to use my cookie cutters 😂)

Sheet Pan Egg-in-a-Hole Recipe

Ingredients:

  • Salt and pepper (to taste)
  • Butter
  • Equal amounts of:
    • Slices of bread
    • Eggs

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Prepare Baking Sheet:
    • Lightly oil a baking sheet or coat it with nonstick spray.
  3. Cut Bread Holes:
    • Use a biscuit cutter or cookie cutter to make a hole in the center of each slice of bread.
  4. Butter the Bread:
    • Butter one side of each bread slice. Place the slices on the prepared baking sheet, buttered side down.
  5. First Bake:
    • Bake the bread for 5 minutes to give it a head start in toasting.
  6. Make Egg Wells:
    • Remove the baking sheet from the oven. Crack an egg into each hole in the bread slices.
  7. Season:
    • Sprinkle salt and pepper to taste over the eggs.
  8. Second Bake:
    • Return the baking sheet to the oven and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes, depending on how runny you want your egg yolk. Adjust the time accordingly.
  9. Optional Butter Top:
    • Once done, remove from the oven and, if desired, spread a little butter on the top of each bread slice for added richness.
  10. Serve and Enjoy:
    • Plate your sheet pan egg-in-a-hole and savor the delightful combination of crispy bread and perfectly baked eggs. You can serve it with your favorite toppings, such as fresh herbs, avocado, or hot sauce.
