How to Make Cheese and Ham Frittata on the Stovetop
Step 1: Prepare the Ingredients
Crack the eggs into a medium mixing bowl, add a pinch of salt and pepper, and whisk until smooth. For an extra creamy texture, whisk in 1/2 cup of milk.
Dice the ham and shred the cheese. If using onions, dice them as well.
Step 2: Cook the Onion (if using)
In a large, non-stick skillet, heat the olive oil or butter over medium heat.
Add the diced onion and cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until softened and translucent.
Step 3: Add the Ham
Stir the diced ham into the skillet with the onions and cook for 2-3 minutes, allowing the ham to heat through and lightly brown.
Step 4: Add the Eggs
Lower the heat to medium-low and pour the beaten eggs evenly over the ham and onion mixture in the skillet.
Let the eggs cook gently without stirring for 3-4 minutes, allowing the edges to set.
Step 5: Add the Cheese
Once the edges of the frittata start to firm up, sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the top of the eggs.
Cover the skillet with a lid and continue cooking on low heat for another 5-7 minutes, or until the eggs are fully set and the cheese has melted.
Step 6: Serve the Frittata
Remove the skillet from the heat and let the frittata rest for a minute or two before slicing it into wedges.
Garnish with fresh parsley or chives and serve hot.
