How to Make Honey Garlic Shrimp, Sausage & Broccoli
Step 1: Prepare the Honey Garlic Sauce
- In a bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, ginger (if using), and red pepper flakes. If you prefer a thicker sauce, mix in the cornstarch with a splash of water to create a slurry. Set aside.
Step 2: Cook the Sausage
- Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the sliced sausage to the skillet and cook until browned and heated through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the sausage from the skillet and set aside.
Step 3: Sauté the Broccoli
- In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil. Toss in the broccoli florets and stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until they are vibrant green and tender-crisp.
Step 4: Add Shrimp and Combine
- Push the broccoli to the sides of the skillet and add the shrimp to the center. Season with salt and pepper. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on one side until they turn pink, then flip to cook for another minute or until fully cooked through.
- Pour the prepared honey garlic sauce over the shrimp and broccoli. Stir to combine, allowing the sauce to coat the shrimp and broccoli. If using, add the cooked sausage back into the skillet and stir to heat through.
Step 5: Serve and Enjoy
- Remove from heat and serve immediately over rice, quinoa, or noodles. Enjoy your flavorful one-pan meal!
Tips and Variations
Protein Swaps: Feel free to substitute the shrimp or sausage with your choice of protein, such as chicken or tofu, based on your preference.
Vegetable Options: Broccoli is just one option! You can add bell peppers, snap peas, or carrots for extra color and nutrition.
Make It Spicy: If you like it spicy, increase the amount of red pepper flakes or add sliced jalapeños for an extra kick.
Thickening the Sauce: If you prefer a thicker sauce, add the cornstarch slurry during the last few minutes of cooking and stir until the sauce thickens.
How to Store Leftovers
Refrigerator: Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Freezer: For longer storage, freeze the dish in a freezer-safe container for up to 2 months. Thaw in the refrigerator before reheating.
Reheat: Reheat in the microwave or on the stovetop until warmed through. If the sauce has thickened, add a splash of water or broth to loosen it up.
