Instructions:
- Preparation:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
- Prepare the topping:
- Melt 1/2 cup of butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Add the brown sugar and stir until it’s completely dissolved and combined with the butter.
- Pour this mixture into the bottom of the prepared cake pan.
- Arrange the pecan halves on top of the butter and sugar mixture in a decorative pattern.
- Make the cake batter:
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then add the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, and mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
