Churros Recipe

Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare the Churro Dough

In a medium-sized saucepan, combine water, butter, and salt. Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a boil.

Once the mixture is boiling, reduce the heat to low and add the all-purpose flour. Stir continuously until the dough comes together and forms a smooth ball. Remove the saucepan from heat and let the dough cool for a few minutes.

Step 2: Add Eggs and Vanilla

Add the eggs to the dough one at a time, beating well after each addition. Make sure to fully incorporate each egg before adding the next. Stir in the vanilla extract, and continue mixing until the dough is smooth and glossy.

Step 3: Prepare for Frying

Heat vegetable oil in a large, deep pot to 375°F (190°C). You’ll need enough oil to submerge the churros during frying.

While the oil is heating, transfer the churro dough into a piping bag fitted with a star tip. This will give the churros their classic ridged appearance.

Step 4: Pipe and Fry

Pipe the churro dough directly into the hot oil, cutting the dough with scissors or a knife to your desired length. Fry the churros until they are golden brown, turning them occasionally to ensure even cooking. This usually takes about 2-4 minutes per batch.
