How to Make Brown Sugar and Bacon Baked Beans
Step 1: Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Step 2: Cook the Bacon
In a large skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until it’s crispy. Once cooked, remove the bacon and set it aside. Leave about 1-2 tablespoons of bacon grease in the skillet.
Step 3: Cook the Onion
In the same skillet with the bacon grease, add the diced onion and sauté until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
Step 4: Combine Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the baked beans, brown sugar, ketchup, mustard, molasses, Worcestershire sauce, and the sautéed onions. Stir everything together until well combined. Crumble half of the cooked bacon into the mixture and stir again.
Step 5: Bake the Beans
Transfer the bean mixture to a greased casserole dish and spread it out evenly. Crumble the remaining bacon on top of the beans. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes.
Step 6: Uncover and Bake Again
After 45 minutes, remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the beans are bubbly and the bacon on top is crispy.
Step 7: Serve
Remove from the oven and let the baked beans cool for a few minutes before serving.
